Cecilia Hergheligiu

Cecilia Hergheligiu studied Classical Archaeology at Humboldt University in Berlin. She completed her studies in 2012 with a master’s thesis on the topic: ›Korinthische Kapitelle in Nikopolis, Westgriechenland. Zur Typologie und chronologischen Einordnung‹. In 2017 Cecilia Hergheligiu obtained a doctoral scholarship in the academy project.

›Ramutten – ein wiederentdecktes mittelalterliches Gräberfeld aus dem ehemaligen Ostpreußen. Studien zur materiellen Kultur im westbaltischen Raum‹

Cecilia Hergheligiu’s dissertation is dedicated to the interpretation of finds from graves in the burial site of Ramutten, today Girkaliai/Lithuania. About 1400 of these artifacts from the Prussia Collection in Königsberg are now kept in the Museum for Pre- and Early History in Berlin. The objectives of the dissertation are the reconstruction of grave inventories, the dating and determination of the artifacts’ provenance and cultural-historical contexting of grave goods and burial rites.
