Transcription project

On August 1, 2022, at the Berlin Museum of Prehistory and Early History [Museum für Vor- und Frühgeschichte (MVF)], the project "The archaeological local files from Königsberg in East Prussia. Transcription, recording and digital presentation of archival holdings from the Prussia Museum" [Die archäologischen Ortsakten aus Königsberg in Ostpreußen. Transkription, Erfassung und digitale Präsentation archivalischer Bestände aus dem Prussia-Museum] has been successfully launched. It is a cooperation between PRUSSIA, Gesellschaft für Geschichte, Archäologie und Landeskunde Ost- und Westpreußens e.V. as the applicant and the MVF and is funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media [die Beauftragte der Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien]. It is being carried out in conjunction with the academy project "Continuity of Research and Research of Continuity" at the archives of the MVF by Dr. Christine Reich. The project will last until 2025. The main goal is to professionally edit the transcripts of handwritten documents from the more than 2,100 volumes of local files created by volunteers between 2015 and 2022 and to make them available for research in analog and digital form.
